Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services has two outpatient clinics and
is staffed by a team of fourteen professional counselors. The
Ithaca Clinic provides services Monday through Friday. The Groton
Clinic provides services on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. With a
focus on continuity of care, strength-based services and an
emphasis on best practices we provide:
Evaluations:
The psychosocial evaluation addresses the client’s
employment history, substance usage history, legal history, family
status, social status, psychiatric status, and other relevant
information. The result of the evaluation is the determination
of any substance-related dependency or abuse diagnosis as well
as treatment recommendations. A medical assessment, including
an intake session with a nurse who will evaluate the person's
medical status and determine if further medical attention is needed,
is also provided.
Group
Therapy: Group therapy is the primary treatment modality utilized
by Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services. The Outpatient Clinics
offer several different groups including: core awareness, abuse
specific, women's issues, relapse prevention, intensified outpatient,
teen program, L.G.B.T. group, significant others, Family Rebuilding
and dual focus. Clients are assigned to groups based upon their
individual treatment needs and goals. Groups are available during
the day, and evening.
Individual
Therapy: Individual Therapy generally supports the group therapy
efforts and allows the client to have a one on one meeting with
their primary counselor to address treatment planning and progress.
Medical
Evaluations and Referrals: The Outpatient Clinics are supervised
by a medical director, who evaluates each client for medical services
and assists in referrals to appropriate medical providers within
the community to address the specific needs of the client.
DSS
Back to Work Assessments: The Ithaca Outpatient Clinic contracts
with the Department of Social Services to complete the required
back to work assessments for community members applying for financial
assistance. If the counselor makes a treatment recommendation
he/she will assist in facilitating admission to an appropriate
treatment program.
Drug
Treatment Court: The Outpatient Clinic supports the efforts
of our community drug courts and is proud to work closely with
the Tompkins County Felony Treatment Court, the Tompkins County
Family Treatment Court and the Ithaca Community Treatment Court
teams. Not only providing a court liaison to each of these courts
to provide resources in decision making and coordination of services,
but to provide addiction services to those clients working to
break the cycle of addiction and criminal behavior through a full
continuum of outpatient services.
Referrals
to Ancillary Services: The Outpatient Clinic will refer clients
to other treatment programs and resources with in the community,
to address client needs. A few examples are shelter programs,
mental health treatment, detoxification, and parenting classes.
